Houston County has no landfill at all. A Lovelady load goes up to a transfer station in Crockett and leaves the county on somebody else's truck.
There is no permitted landfill anywhere in Houston County, so everything dropped in Crockett gets consolidated and hauled somewhere else. Two stations sit up there: the City of Crockett station on North Durrett Drive, and the bigger one out on FM 229 run by Waste Connections.
Neither Crockett station publishes a gate rate, and that is worth knowing before you load up. Every other facility around here puts its fee sheet online. These two do not, so the only way to find out what a load will cost is to ring ahead.
There is a further wrinkle we could not resolve. The operator still lists the FM 229 site publicly, but the state register shows that address cancelled, and the one active transfer station registration in Houston County is the city-owned site on North Durrett Drive. Call the City of Crockett before you drive anywhere with a loaded trailer.
An unknown gate rate is the whole argument against making three small runs on spec.
